11 Water Breathing Techniques in Kimetsu no Yaiba

Water Breathing is one of the main Breathing Style in Kimetsu no Yaiba. As the name implies, the Breathing imitates the flowing and flexible properties of water. In addition, the movement of the breath looks very gentle and elegant.

Water Breathing basically has ten forms or techniques. However, there is one additional technique developed by Giyu Tomioka. For more detailed information, check the discussion directly below!

1. Ichi no kata: Minamo Giri

Ichi no kata: Minamo Giri was first shown by Tanjiro when he took the demon hunter selection exam. This technique is considered very practical and has a lethal attack power against opponents.

After gaining the right momentum, the user of this technique will create a highly concentrated slash. If it hits the target, the slash is able to finish off the demon instantly.

2. Ni no kata: Mizu Guruma

The second Water Breathing Technique is Ni no kata: Mizu Guruma. The user of this technique will jump and spin in the air while swinging his sword vertically. The way this technique works is like a wheel.

Interestingly, Tanjiro developed another variation of this technique called Ni no kata: Yoko Mizu Guruma. While twisting his body in the air, he would release a horizontal slash at his enemy.

3. San no kata: Ryūryū Mai

Furthermore, there is a third technique called San no kata: Ryūryū Mai. When issuing this technique, the user will issue a very elegant slash that is similar to a flowing dance.

The user can slash anything within their range of motion. If used correctly, this technique allows the user to attack multiple enemies in one attack.

4. Shi no kata: Uchishio

Shi no kata: Uchisio is the fourth technique of Water Breathing which takes the form of consecutive slashes that look flowing and very graceful. Through this technique, Tanjiro was able to defeat two demons at once when he took the devil hunter entrance exam.

Not only that, this fourth technique has another variation called Uchisio – Ran. The technique is in the form of consecutive slashes with a better level of precision. In addition, the technique is very useful in uncertain combat situations.

5. Go no kata: Kanten no Jiu

The fifth technique of Water Breathing is Go no kata: Kanten no Jiu. This technique allows the user to destroy a demon's life in one swift and deadly attack.

Besides looking elegant, this technique can be considered as a painless killer technique. This technique can be used by the user when the enemy decides to surrender. That was shown by Tanjiro when he beat Rui's mother.

6. Roku no kata: Nejire Uzu

Roku no kata: Nejire Uzu is a slashing technique that takes the form of a whirlwind. The slash was capable of cutting anything within its reach. In addition, this technique is maximized when used in underwater combat.

Armed with his creativity and ingenuity, Tanjiro is able to combine this technique with his third technique. As a result, he gave birth to a combination technique called Nejire Uzu – RyÅ«ryÅ« which is useful for fending off attacks from various directions.

7. Shichi no kata: Shizuku Hamon Tsuki

The seventh Water Breathing Technique is Shichi no kata: Shizuku Hamon Tsuki. When using this technique, the user will stab his sword right at the target very quickly and accurately.

In the fight against Susamaru, Tanjiro uses another variation of this technique called Shizuku Hamon Tsuki – Kyoku. He attacks the target from a more specific angle so that his attack is able to stop Susamaru's ball even if only for a moment.

8. Hachi no kata: Takitsubo

Next, there is an eighth technique called Hachi no kata: Takitsubo which is inspired by a waterfall. When casting this technique, the user will cut the target vertically with full power.

Even so, the user of this technique needs the right momentum so that the attack can be maximized and precise. This technique will be more effective when the user is in the air and throws himself at the enemy.

9. Ku no kata: SuiryÅ« Shibuki – Ran

Ku no kata: Suiryū Shibuki - Ran has an advantage when the user fights in a place that is difficult to stand on. Tanjiro demonstrates his technique when he fights against Kyogai. In the fight, he was at a disadvantage.

Through this ninth technique, Tanjiro is able to move freely and freely until he can match Kyogai. As a closing step, he also defeats Kyogai with a very fatal slash.

10. JÅ« no kata: Seisei Ruten

JÅ« no kata: Seisei Ruten is the tenth Water Breathing technique and takes the form of a dragon. This technique was first shown by Tanjiro when he fought against Rui. In that battle, he was pressed and was in a critical situation.

When using the tenth technique, the user will issue a series of attacks without a pause. The sword slash will increase stronger along with the momentum generated from the rotation that has been done.

11. JÅ« Ichi no kata: Nagi

JÅ« Ichi no kata: Nagi is the eleventh Water Breathing technique developed by Giyu Tomioka. He displayed this technique when he fought Rui. When using this technique, Giyu looks very calm and improves his concentration.

He minimized all unnecessary body movements so that his defensive ability increased drastically. With this technique, he is able to fend off various enemy attacks that are aimed at him.
