All Sun Breathing Techniques in Kimetsu no Yaiba, Explained

Hinokami Kagura or Sun Breathing is the first Breath which is the forerunner of the other branches of Breathing. The Breathing Style was created by a legendary demon slayer named Yoriichi Tsukiguni.

Yoriichi passes down the Sun Breathing and the Hanafuda earrings to the Kamado family. Every year, the Kamado family uses the Sun Breathing to perform a dance in the ritual practice of honoring the God of Fire.

Altogether, Sun Breathing has 13 techniques which are extremely powerful and useful in battle. Those thirteen techniques are very powerful and effective in killing demons, especially Muzan.

For more detailed information, this time we would like to review all Sun Breathing techniques that appear in the story of Kimetsu no Yaiba. Check the complete information below!

1. Enbu

Tanjiro first awakened this technique when he was involved in a life and death battle against Rui. In a critical situation, she recalls the special dance performed by her father in a ritual held every year.

Enbu is fairly simple and deadly at the same time. The user will issue slashes vertically from top to bottom. When combined with the Thunder Breath technique, Tanjiro is able to unleash a new variation called Enbu Issen.

2. Heki-ra no Ten

Heki-ra no Ten was first shown by Tanjiro during the battle arc in Mugen Train. When using this technique, he will rotate his body and issue a 360 degree slash with full power.

The moment when Tanjiro issues this move looks really cool. Even though he still didn't quite understand, he had begun to become aware of the existence of the Sun Breathing  and learned about it gradually.

3. Retsujitsu Kōkyō

Next, there is an interesting technique called Retsujitsu Kōkyō which is very vicious. When issuing this technique, the user will release two slashes at the same time towards the opponent with full power.

Tanjiro uses this technique when he fights fiercely against Daki. While remembering Rengoku's words, he attacked Daki with his passion that was hot and burning like the sun.

4. Shakkotsu En'yō

When releasing the Shakkotsu En'yō technique, the user will issue a single slash in a spiral motion. In addition to attacking, this technique can be used to fend off enemy attacks.

Tanjiro first unleashed this attack after he had pushed his body to its limit. Although only temporarily, the technique proves to be effective in injuring Daki and making him feel burned.

5. Shayo Tenshin

Shayō Tenshin was first shown by Tanjiro in chapter 152 when he and Giyu fought against Akaza. The battle was very fierce and drained both of their energy because Akaza was a demon that was very hard to beat.

When using this technique, the user will make a jump to create the right momentum. After that, the user would issue a single slash horizontally to cut the target.

6. Hirin Kagerō

Like the previous technique, Hirin Kagerō was also demonstrated by Tanjiro when he faced Akaza in a decisive battle. Besides being deadly, this technique has a special effect that can outwit the enemy.

This technique allows the user to cast attacks enveloped by a heat haze. After that, the user will slash the enemy with a surprise attack which is difficult to predict.

7. Kiki Onko

When performing the Kiki Onkō technique, the user will jump into the air in a spiral motion. At the same time, he would issue a whirlwind-like slash towards his enemy.

Tanjiro demonstrated this technique for the first time when he fought Muzan. This technique might be able to scorch other demons easily. However, this technique has not been able to beat Muzan who is too overpowered.

8. Yōkatotsu

Yōkatotsu was demonstrated by Tanjiro when he fought Hantengu in the final battle. When issuing this technique, the user will use the tip of his sword to stab the enemy with full force.

Even though the way this technique works is quite simple, this technique can cause quite fatal damage if this technique succeeds in hitting the opponent.

9. Nichiun no Ryū Kaburimai

Nichiun no Ryū Kaburimai is a very aggressive Sun Breathing technique that can reach many enemies. This technique allows the user to issue a series of slashes continuously.

Tanjiro first demonstrated this technique when he was involved in a fight against Hantengu. They were very troublesome demons because they were able to divide and multiply their numbers.

10. Kasha

When issuing this technique, the user will jump right behind the enemy. After that, he would issue a horizontal slash to attack the target with a movement that looked like a wheel of fire.

In the battle against Daki, Tanjiro used this technique with the intention of ending the battle. However, his movements were still so slow that Daki was able to easily parry this attack.

11. Gen'nichi Kō

Gen'nichi Kō is a technique that is quite unique and very useful for avoiding enemy attacks. This technique allows the user to move very quickly to create an illusionary effect on the enemy.

Tanjiro demonstrates this move when he dodges Daki's obi attack. He managed to confuse Daki for a moment. He then took advantage of the opening to attack Daki with another attack.

12. Enbu (Flame Dance)

Although similar to the first technique, this technique is a double attack directed at the enemy. First of all, the user will release the slash horizontally. Then, he would release his next attack vertically.

While fighting against Daki, Tanjiro briefly used this technique. Before he can fully perform this technique, Daki manages to fend off Tanjiro's attack with his demon blood technique.

13. Jūsan no kata

Jūsan no kata is basically a combination of the previous twelve techniques which are done repetitively or repeatedly. In a way, this technique is the ultimate technique of Sun Breathing which has the power to destroy Muzan.

The repetitive movement of this technique can increase the accuracy of the attack along with the user's agility. In addition, this technique is able to reduce the user's fatigue so that he can continue to carry out attacks without stopping.
