Roronoa Zoro is a swordsman who employs a unique fighting style in One Piece. Although he predominantly uses the three-sword style, also known as Santoryu, he sometimes also uses the one-sword style, also known as Ittoryu, to attack enemies.
In this article, we will discuss a all of Zoro's one-sword techniques in One Piece. Intrigued? Check out the full discussion below!
1. Ittoryu Iai: Shishi Sonson
Ittoryu Iai: Shishi Sonson is Zoro's most iconic one-sword style in the story. When executing this style, Zoro will adopt a stance and slash his opponent with a single, lightning-fast strike.
Zoro first demonstrated this style during his fight against Daz Bones. With this style, he was able to cut through Daz Bones' steel body. Zoro often uses this style using the Wado Ichimonji sword.
2. Sanjuroku Pound Ho
Unlike the first technique, Sanjuroku Pound Ho is an air slash that Zoro uses to attack enemies from a distance. When using this technique, Zoro first holds one of his swords.
Then, Zoro swings his sword, creating a very sharp spiral air slash. Zoro first used this technique to defeat the Shandia warrior Braham.
3. Hiryu Kaen
The next one-sword technique is Hiryu Kaen. Zoro holds one of his swords with his left hand, while his right hand grips his left arm to enhance the attack's power.
Afterward, Zoro jumps high into the air and slashes at the enemy with full force. Uniquely, this attack is accompanied by a dragon aura. This technique was used by Zoro to defeat Ryuma on Thriller Bark.
4. Yakkodori
After two years of training with Mihawk, Zoro's swordplay power has increased significantly. He has also developed several new attacks. One of them is Yakkodori, which Zoro demonstrated against Hodi.
Yakkodori works quite simply. Zoro swings his sword forward, creating a crescent-shaped air slash. This slash is similar to Sanjuroku Pound Ho.
5. Sanbyakurokuju Pound Ho
As the name suggests, Sanbyakurokuju Pound Ho is a more powerful version of Sanjuroku Pound Ho. The damage it produces is apparently 10 times greater than Sanjuroku Pound Ho.
Zoro first demonstrated this technique to slash a giant fish on his way to the New World.
6. Ittoryu Iai: Shi Shishi Sonson
As before, Ittoryu Iai: Shi Shishi Sonson is a more powerful version of Ittoryu Iai: Shishi Sonson. Zoro first demonstrated this technique when he fought a dragon on Punk Hazard.
During the battle, Zoro leaped high into the air and then unleashed his One Sword Technique to decapitate the dragon. The moment was incredibly impressive.
7. Daishinkan
Zoro's next One Sword Technique is Daishinkan. When using this technique, Zoro holds his sword with both hands and then slashes the enemy in front of him without hesitation.
This technique split Monet's snowy body in half, leaving her momentarily defenseless. If Zoro had coated his sword with Busoshoku Haki at the time, Monet likely wouldn't have survived.
8. Baki
Zoro has another One Sword Technique called Baki. It works almost identically to the previous one. Zoro unleashes a powerful vertical slash at his enemy.
Zoro demonstrated this technique against Pica's Bitestone technique at Dressrosa. Although Zoro's slash easily sliced through Pica's rocky body, Pica survived because his true body was still hiding somewhere.
