In this article, we will discuss various ways or methods that can awaken a Stand's power.
If you've been following the JoJo series, you probably already know that there's more than one way to obtain or awaken a Stand.
For more information, check out the full discussion in this article!
1. Arrow
An Arrow is a mysterious artifact that has the power to awaken a Stand. This is the method most often used by JoJo characters to obtain Stands.
This Arrow is explained to be made from a meteorite that fell on Cape York, Greenland, approximately 50,000 years ago. The meteorite contains a mysterious virus thought to be an alien virus. This virus can trigger the awakening of supernatural powers, also known as Stands, in a person.
However, only those who are worthy and qualified can awaken a Stand after being pierced by the Arrow. If they are weak and lack the capacity, they can be killed by the Arrow.
2. Awakening from Birth
In other cases, there are certain individuals who can awaken their Stand powers naturally without the aid of an Arrow. Kakyoin, Polnareff, and Avdol are examples of characters who have had Stands since birth.
This appears to be quite rare. Beyond these individuals, there is no further detailed information regarding who else has iacquired a Stand from birth.
3. Bloodline
Stands can also awaken in individuals through bloodline reactions, as happened to the Joestar family. When DIO awakened his Stand, Jonathan Joestar's descendants, Joseph and Jotaro, also experienced a reaction that awakened their Stand powers.
Unlike Joseph and Jotaro, Holy Kujo, Jotaro's mother, immediately fell ill because her body was weak and unable to withstand the effects of her Stand awakening.
4. Dedication to a Profession
Another way to awaken a Stand is through dedication and dedication to a profession. This case can be seen in Tonio Trussardi, a renowned Italian chef. He was particularly interested in studying Chinese medicine, Amazonian medicine, and African herbs.
Trussardi admitted that he didn't originally have a Stand. The power of his Stand, Pearl Jam, only awakened while he was traveling around the world. The Stand apparently awakened thanks to Trussardi's dedication and love for cooking. With the power of this Stand, the quality of his cooking has significantly improved.
5. Whitesnake's DISC
Whitesnake is the Stand of Enrico Pucci, the main antagonist appearing in JoJo's Stone Ocean Part 6. One of Whitesnake's abilities is to steal the power of other people's Stands and extract it in the form of a DISC, aka cassette tape.
Pucci, interestingly, can transfer the DISC containing the Stand to others, making them Stand users. However, the Stand they control is essentially a loan, so Pucci can take it back at any time.
6. Devil Palms and Holy Corpse
In Steel Ball Run, Araki introduces a new way to awaken Stand powers: through a mysterious area known as Devil Palms. This area appears randomly across the North American continent.
The appearance of Devil Palms could indicate the location of the Holy Corpse's body parts, scattered throughout the world. The Holy Corpse's body is so valuable that many seek it.
Anyone trapped in Devil Palms has only two options: survival or death. Those who survive and escape can awaken their Stand powers.
In addition to Devil Palms, those exposed to the energy of the Holy Corpse's body also have the potential to awaken their Stand powers.
7. Spin
The final method for acquiring a Stand is through the Spin technique. Spin is a technique that creates rotational energy using Steel Balls. This technique has been passed down through generations of the Zeppeli family.
In the final battle against Funny Valentine, Gyro Zeppeli was able to unleash a high-level rotational technique, the Golden Spin, which has the power to transcend dimensions. Furthermore, this rotational energy is visualized in the form of a Stand-like creature.
In the JOJOVELLER book, Araki confirms this, explaining that the art of Steel Balls can transform into Stand abilities.
8. Wall Eyes
In JoJolion, there is a mysterious geological phenomenon known as Wall Eyes. These geological phenomena take the form of protruding walls or faults that emerged from the ground after the earthquake and tsunami that struck Morioh in 2011.
Besides their unique shapes, Wall Eyes are also believed to possess supernatural powers linked to Stand awakenings in the JoJolion series, such as the cases of Yasuho and Joshu, who successfully awakened their Stand powers after being near Wall Eyes.
The existence of these Wall Eyes is uniquely connected to the power of the Saint Corpse. According to Lucy Steel's explanation, the Morioh soil has similar characteristics to the Devil's Palm in Steel Ball Run.
