In the story of Tokyo Ghoul, Quinx are humans who possess kakuhou, allowing them to produce kagune for combat.
Quinx were created through a special experiment developed by the CCG after examining Kaneki's body. They have become a valuable asset for the CCG in eradicating ghouls who threaten public safety.
In terms of abilities, Quinx are very similar to ghouls. They possess physical strength above that of a normal human. Furthermore, they possess impressive sensitivity and regenerative abilities.
However, Quinx cannot use their kagune to 100% capacity due to the risk. Normally, their kagune can only produce 20% output.
They have specific limitations and methods known as frames, which are divided into five levels. If a Quinx wants to increase their frames, they must obtain approval from the CCG director.
In certain cases, a Quinx can exceed the limits of these frames when cornered in combat. They can release high levels of RC cells, drastically increasing the power of their kagune.
There are four main members of Quinx who receive attention in the story. They are the first generation Quinx who are extremely powerful and capable of facing high-level ghouls, such as Noro.
Kuki Urie
The first is Kuki Urie. He is known as a serious and hardworking individual. Furthermore, he is extremely dedicated to carrying out his duties, which has enabled him to rise through the ranks quickly.
Although Urie is initially selfish, he gradually comes to realize the importance of teamwork. He cares deeply for his comrades and will do anything to protect them from harm.
In terms of abilities, Urie possesses a koukaku-type kagune. He can create a long sword as his primary weapon in combat. He also utilizes a quinque sword named Ginkui, created from Noro's kagune.
Ginshi Shirazu
Before his death in battle against Noro, Ginshi Shirazu was entrusted with the leadership of the Quinx squad. Shirazu willingly became a Quinx experiment subject so he could earn money for his sister's treatment.
Although he often appears rough and aggressive, he is a man of strong determination and makes an ideal team leader. He is willing to sacrifice his life to ensure the safety of his friends.
Unlike Urie, Shirazu possesses an ukaku-type kagune. He can fire a type of projectile that can produce a powerful explosion. He also wields an interesting quinque called Nutcracker.
Tooru Mutsuki
Tooru Mutsuki is a key member of the Quinx squad. He is indecisive and lacks confidence in his strength. Because of this, he often becomes a burden in battle.
Seeing his weakness, Mutsuki becomes frustrated. He begins training regularly so he can become a reliable member of the team. He is able to become a powerful fighter and face off against ghouls.
As a Quinx, Mutsuki controls a bikaku-type kagune. He can create tails to attack and block attacks. Furthermore, she is highly skilled in using a pair of quinques named Ifraft and Abksol, which take the form of daggers.
Saiko Yonebayashi
Unlike her three friends, Saiko Yonebayashi has a childish personality and enjoys playing games. She prefers to spend her time lazing around rather than training her powers.
Although Yonebayashi appears weak and unreliable, she is a very powerful Quinx. She can unleash her full potential in critical situations, especially when her teammates are in danger.
Yonebayashi is a Rinkaku-type kagune user. She can create two tentacles that resemble reptile tails. She is capable of unleashing powerful explosive attacks. However, this ability is very draining on her stamina.
