10 Best Characters in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings is an interesting anime adapted from a game of the same name. This anime about samurai is produced by Funimation and premiered in Japan in 2009.

The story of this anime is set in Japan during the Sengoku Period when wars were everywhere. What is unique about this anime is that the naming of this character is also inspired by real figures in Japanese history.

This time I have reviewed some interesting characters in Sengoku Basara. I wrote this article based on my perspective while watching the Basara anime. Come on, let's just look at the article below!

10. Toyotomi Hideyoshi

Toyotomi Hideyoshi is the main enemy in the Sengoku Basara Season 2. He is the person who continues the evil determination of Oda Nobunaga to rule over all of Japan. He has a large stature as well as a cruel and authoritarian personality.

In addition, Hideyoshi is crazy about power. In fighting, Hideyoshi relies on the strength of his two very strong fists. With just his fists, Hideyoshi was able to destroy a platoon with ease. In addition, he can repel thousands of arrows that are aimed at him by flapping his fists. He was also able to overwhelm Date Masamuni in battle, forcing him to retreat.

9. Ieyasu Tokugawa

Ieyasu Tokugawa is a brave young leader who dreams of bringing peace to all of Japan. He briefly formed an alliance with Nobunaga and refused Takeda's offer to cancel the alliance. It brought him to ruin.

In fighting, Ieyasu uses a unique weapon, namely a spear with two blades. His fighting ability is not fully shown in the story. However, he has Tadakatsu who is the strongest warrior and always protects him when in danger. In the second season of this anime, Ieyasu returns with a stronger appearance and he declares resistance against Hideyoshi.

8. Maeda Keiji

Next, there is Maeda Keiji who is a wandering samurai. He has a friendly attitude towards everyone and has lofty ideals of peace. He is also a person who intends to unite the generals or leaders in Japanese territory to oppose Oda Nobunaga's ambitions.

In battle, Maeda uses a long Nodachi sword. Uniquely, Maeda can swing the sword with one hand. He had shown his sword skills against Date Masamuni at Oushuu, although in the end he lost because his strength was not comparable to Masamune's.

7. Katakura Kojuro

Katakura Kojuro is Date Masamune's most loyal right-hand man. Kojuro was even willing to die to atone for his sins for having raised his sword in front of Date Masamune. In various situations, Kojuro often acts as an advisor and gives the best advice in battle. He was also responsible for ensuring the safety of his master.

Kojuro's fighting ability was highly trained. He was very proficient with his sword techniques. The most concrete example is when he fought against Akechi. In that fight, Kojuro can deliver a deadly attack that makes Akechi powerless.

6. Uesugi Kenshin

Next, there is Uesugi Kenshin who leads the Echigo region. He is a high class samurai with the nickname God of War who has an elegant appearance. In addition, he is Takeda Shingen's rival and always has high respect for his rival. Kenshin also has a personal relationship with Kunoichi who is his personal bodyguard.

In fighting, Uesugi uses a sword and he has very fast movements. Kenshin's strength can be said to be almost on par with Takeda Shingen. However, Kenshin's way of fighting is more elegant and he is very smart in managing battle tactics.

5. Mitsuhide Akechi

Mitsuhide Akechi is the underling of the treacherous Oda Nobunaga. He has a pale looking face and a sadistic personality in combat. Although at first he seems loyal to Oda, Akechi actually has a special goal, which is to see Oda helpless and bring Oda to his knees in front of him.

However, that dream did not come true because he was defeated by Kotaro in the final battle.
In fighting, Akechi uses a large scythe. Akechi can move very agilely and issue his scythe attack in a deadly way. Just like Oda, Akechi sometimes also uses cunning ways to make him win against his enemies. For example when he fought Takeda Shingen who was holding the dam.

4. Takeda Shingen

Next, there is Takeda Shingen who is the leader of the Takeda clan and is known as Tiger Kai. He is a firm leader and is respected by his followers. In addition, Takeda is also good at diplomacy with other regional leaders, for example with Uesugi and Ieyasu.

Takeda is a very formidable samurai. He looks very dashing with his strong armor and a giant ax that functions as a weapon. In addition, he has very strong physical strength, for example when he holds a large rock when the dam in his area is about to collapse. In addition, Takeda is also able to keep up with the opponent's ninja speed, as in his fight against Fuma.

3. Oda Nobunaga

In third place, there is Oda Nobunaga who is the main antagonist in the anime series. Oda claims to be the Sixth Demon King and intends to rule over all areas of Japan by justifying various means. In addition, Oda also has a ruthless attitude and considers his subordinates only as pawns that he can move.

The title of demon lord on Oda is not a mere title because Oda is a very strong and formidable samurai. In addition, Oda is enveloped by an evil aura of darkness. Oda wields a sword and a shotgun with two bullets. Oda's terrifying power is displayed in the final battle against Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura. With his strength, Oda was able to overwhelm the two formidable samurai.

2. Sanada Yukimura

Sanada Yukimura is Takeda Shingen's right-hand man and a brave warlord. He was always passionate in battle. In addition, he also has a naive attitude and lacks expertise in observing situations so that he often gets hit from Takeda as a lesson so that Yukimura can be better.

In battle, Yukimura uses two long spears as his main weapon. He was very skilled in using the spear and his attack range was wide. What's unique is that the spear is shrouded in fire so it can inflict strong damage on the opponent.

1. Date Masamune

Date Masamune is a warlord and leader of the powerful Oushuu. He is also known as the One-Eyed Dragon. He had a resolute personality and was highly respected by his followers. In addition, Date is also always eager to fight, especially when he meets a strong opponent commensurate with his strength.

In battle, Date Masamune wields six swords at once. He can move very agile and issue a powerful attack towards his opponent. In addition, Date Masamune has high physical endurance, for example during the final battle against Oda Nobunaga. In this anime, Date Masamune is Yukimura's rival.
