JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is one of the most exciting manga and anime adventures to be enjoyed. In the anime, there is an interesting power called Stand. The power is a manifestation of one's life energy.

CLASSIFICATION BASED ON ABILITIES
Understanding the enemy's Stand ability is very important and useful in battle. After knowing the characteristics of the enemy's Stands, one could figure out the proper way to deal with them.
When viewed based on ability, Stands are divided into four types as follows.
Close Range Stands
As the name implies, Close Range Stands is a stand that excels in close range combat. This type is usually able to provide direct physical damage to enemies.
In addition, this type is mostly able to move quickly. Even so, this type is quite vulnerable when dealing with enemies that are out of reach. An example of this type is Jotaro Kujo's Star Platinum.
Long Range Stands
In contrast to the previous type, the Long Range Stands aka Remote Control Stands has an advantage in long-distance combat. The stand is capable of moving several kilometers from the user's location.
This type usually takes advantage of its wide attack range to attack the enemy. Even so, users of this type of Stand are vulnerable to melee attacks. One example of the long-range Stand type is Narancia's Aerosmith.
Automatic Stands
As the name implies, Automatic Stands is a type of Stand that works automatically according to user commands. This type of Stand is usually not directly connected to the user so that the user will not be injured when the Stand is attacked by an opponent.
The unique Automatic Stands can be categorized into two sub-types, namely Autopilot and Posthumos. The Autopilot type is able to travel long distances without losing strength, while the Posthumos type is able to survive even if the user is dead.
Range Irrelevant Stands
Range Irrelevant Stands is a type of Stand which is very troublesome to fight because this type is not affected by distance. So, this Stand can attack enemies at close range or long range.
Stands of this type usually have space-time related abilities. An example is DIO's The World. The stand allows DIO to stop time so he can attack enemies freely without any distance restrictions.
CLASSIFICATION BASED ON FORMS
Apart from being differentiated based on abilities, Stands can also be categorized according to their form. There are five Stand forms that appear most frequently in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Natural Humanoid Stands
Natural Humanoid Stands is a Stand that looks like a human. This type of stand is able to show expressions according to the user. In addition, this type usually has the size of a normal human being in general.
Artificial Humanoid Stands
Unlike the previous type, the Artificial Humanoid Stands is more like a robot that has a mechanical or artificial body. This type usually does not have a mouth and can not show expressions.
Natural Non-Humanoid Stands
As well as being humanoid, a Stand can also take the form of a specific object, such as a natural life form or an inanimate object. Stands in the form of animals or plants can be called Natural Non-Humanoid Stands.
Artificial Non-Humanoid Stands
Next, there are Artificial Non-Humanoid Stands that take the form of inanimate objects, such as tools, mechanical items, vehicles, and similar objects. This type of stand can be used as the user's weapon directly in battle.
Phenomenon Stands
Besides the four previous categories, there is an interesting type called Phenomenon Stands. The stand has no physical form and exhibits a supernatural phenomenon. In addition, this type can also allow the user to have super strength.
SPECIAL CATEGORY
Although not officially mentioned in the story, there are several types of Stands that can be considered special. These stands have very unique characteristics and are widely discussed among fans of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
Bound Stands
Bound Stands are Stands that are connected to certain objects, such as transportation equipment or dolls. Because of that, this type could be seen by people without Stands.
This stand can outwit the enemy in battle. One example of this type is Kanedaichi Toyohiro's Superfly which takes the form of a tower.
Colony Stands
Colony Stands is a very unique type of Stand because its form consists of a colony or combat troops. This type is usually small and very large in number. In addition, this type can attack enemies from various directions.
There are several interesting examples of Colony Stands in the story, namely Keicho Nijimura's Bad Company and Guido Mista's Sex Pistol. Because the power of the Stands is divided according to the number, the user is difficult to be injured in battle.
Evolved Stands
As the name implies, Evolved Stands is a type of Stand that can evolve to become stronger. Stands can evolve naturally like a butterfly undergoing metamorphosis, an example is Koichi's Echoes which evolves from ACT 1 to ACT 3.
In addition, Stands can develop stronger based on external factors. An example is the effect of the Stand generating arrow. In Vento Aureo's story, the arrow is capable of activating the Requiem form of a Stand.
Sentient Stands
Normally, each Stand works according to the commands given by the user. However, there is a case where Stands are able to move according to their will. The stand can be called a Sentient Stands.
One interesting example of Sentient Stand is Trish Una's Spice Girl. The stand is capable of performing actions without needing to be instructed by Trish. Even so, the Stand still obeyed the user's orders.
Shared Stands
In most cases, each individual can only have one Stand. Uniquely, there is a Stand that can be used by more than one person. Stands with these characteristics are known as Shared Stands.
For example, we can see two rats named Bug-Eaten in the story Diamond is Unbreakable. Both of them share the same Stand. Apart from that, Cheap Trap can also switch users if the previous user dies.
