11 Gyojin Karate Users and Their Abilities in One Piece

In One Piece, Gyojin Karate is a special martial art commonly used by the fish-men race. This style primarily relies on striking techniques and is particularly well-suited for underwater combat.

However, it is uniquely not limited to fish-men. Humans can also become Gyojin Karate practitioners if they are willing to learn it.

In this article, we will discuss about One Piece characters confirmed to have mastered the Gyojin Karate. Who are they? If you're curious, check out the full discussion below!

1. Jinbe

First, let's start with Jinbe, who is a has a very high degree in Gyojin Karate. He has a renowned reputation at sea. He once joined the Sun Pirates, became a member of the Shichibukai, and now he is a member of the Straw Hat Pirates.

As a practitioner of Gyojin Karate, Jinbe has mastered various ultimate moves with powerful and massive impact, such as the Gosenmaigawara Seiken and the Gyojin Karate Ogi: Buraikan, which can knock even giant enemies away.

Jinbe has also demonstrated his fighting prowess in various battles, from the battle against the Jailer Beast in Impel Down, against Moria and Akainu in Marineford, against Big Mom on Whole Cake Island, to defeating Who's Who in Wano.

2. Kuroobi

Then there's Kuroobi, a member of the Arlong Pirates, whom Sanji fought in the battle at Arlong Park. He possesses the confidence of a Gyojin Karate practitioner. His abilities were clearly demonstrated in his fight against Sanji.

Kuroobi is able to combine punches, kicks, and his physical characteristics as a stingray to attack his enemies. Furthermore, he has mastered several powerful ultimate moves, such as Hyakumaigawara Seiken, Wanto Giri, and Senmaigawara Seiken.

While fighting underwater, Kuroobi managed to deliver a fatal attack to Sanji. However, Sanji was able to turn the tide in the battle on land. Kuroobi was defeated after being hit by Sanji's powerful Mouton Shot.

3. Capote

Compared to the previous two fishmen, Capote is not a popular character. He briefly received the spotlight in the Long Ring Long Land arc when the Straw Hat Pirates fought the Foxy Pirates.

Capote is a user of Gyojin Karate, but his skills are not particularly impressive. He has two signature moves: Kaimen Wari and Two Fish Engines, which he demonstrated in the boat race against the Straw Hat crew.

4. Hody Jones

The next Gyojin Karate user is Hody Jones, who became Luffy's main enemy in the battle on Fish-Man Island. Hody is a very cruel fish-man with a strong hatred for humans.

Hody is a fairly skilled Gyojin Karate user. He has mastered several interesting moves, such as Yabusame and Uchimizu, which involve shooting water bullets. The impact of his attacks is greatly enhanced by the effects of Energy Steroid.

Despite Hody's terrifying strength, his martial arts skills are still no match for Jinbe's due to his over-reliance on Energy Steroids. Ultimately, the effects of the Steroid Pills caused his body to age.

5. Aladine

Aladine is a fish-man who has good friendship with Jinbe. He was once a slave on Mary Geoise until he was rescued by Fisher Tiger. Afterward, he joined the Sun Pirates.

Aladine is usually seen carrying a trident as his weapon. However, he is also capable of fighting barehanded due to his mastery of Gyojin Karate. This was demonstrated in the battle on Whole Cake Island.

Aladine has mastered a powerful punching technique called Umidaiko, which he used to attack Charlotte Oven.

6. Hack

Hack first appeared as a gladiator in Block B, fighting for the Mera Mera no Mi. He was later revealed to be a member of the Revolutionary Army assigned to Dressrosa to investigate illegal arms trafficking.

Hack is a powerful and experienced practitioner of Gyojin Karate. During his fights in the Corrida Colosseum, Hack proved capable of defeating numerous fighters with his martial arts skills.

Hack mastered an ultimate technique called Yonsenmaigawara Seiken, which can knock even large opponents away. However, this technique was completely useless when Hack attacked Bartolomeo's barrier.

7. Koala

Koala is a little girl who was rescued by Fisher Tiger in the past. She has a tragic backstory, having been a slave to a Tenryuubito. Somehow, she decided to join the Revolutionary Army.

Although Koala is human, her ability to use Gyojin Karate is considered highly skilled. She is capable of delivering powerful punches that can defeat multiple enemies simultaneously in Dressrosa.

8. Nico Robin

During the two-year time skip, Nico Robin trained with the Revolutionary Army. She then showed a rapid increase in strength, especially when she fought Black Maria in the battle of Wano.

Unexpectedly, Robin was able to master the martial art of Gyojin Karate. She learned this martial art under Koala's guidance. Uniquely, Robin combined this martial art with her devil fruit, Hana Hana no Mi.

Through the Gyojin Karate: Giganteum technique, Robin can create a giant hand and then attack her target with her signature Gyojin Karate move. The power of this attack is capable of destroying the ceiling of a building.

9. Tansui

The next Gyojin Karate user is Tansui. He is a member of the Macro gang and works as a kidnapper. He and his friends attempted to kidnap Hatchan and sell him to the Flying Fish Riders, led by Duval.

Tansui himself claims to be a practitioner of Gyojin Karate. However, his full abilities were not clearly demonstrated, as he was instantly defeated after being hit by Hatchan.

10. Sebastian

Unlike the previous characters, Sebastian is a non-canon character who appeared in a special episode titled 3D2Y. He is a descendant of the Wotan race, a hybrid between a fishman and a giant.

Because of this, Sebastian has a larger build than most fishmen. As a Gyojin Karate user, he has mastered two dangerous techniques called O Yabusame and O Uchimizu.

Both attacks involve large water cannons capable of inflicting high damage, similar to cannonballs.

11. S-Shark

The last Gyojin Karate user in this list is S-Shark. He is one of the Seraphim with terrifying powers. He shares characteristics with Jinbe, both in appearance and abilities.

Like Jinbe, S-Shark is highly skilled at using Gyojin Karate. Furthermore, he can access Senor Pink's Sui Sui no Mi, a devil fruit that allows him to swim freely on land and launch surprise attacks on enemies.
