Although Yamcha is often the butt of jokes, he is a very formidable and talented martial artist. Unfortunately, he can't match Goku or other overpowered enemies.
Throughout the Dragon Ball story, Yamcha has several unique and distinctive techniques. What are they? Find out in the following review!
1. Rōgafūfūken
Rōgafūfūken is an ultimate technique used by Yamcha early in the Dragon Ball story. This technique can be considered a pure martial art without relying on ki.
When using this technique, Yamcha imitates the movements of a wolf. He combines scratches, punches, and kicks to attack his enemies. Furthermore, he can move with great agility.
2. Rōgafūfūken Sen
Rōgafūfūken Sen is another variation of the Rōgafūfūken technique. Yamcha first demonstrated this technique during his fight with the wolf fighter at the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai. The technique works more or less the same as before.
First, Yamcha kicks the opponent, sending them flying. Afterward, he positions himself as if performing a Kamehameha. Finally, he unleashes his full power to defeat his opponent.
3. Rōgafūfūtōyūken
Yamcha decided to join the baseball club to earn money to support himself. With his strong martial arts background, he became the club's top pitcher.
Yamcha applied the Rōgafūfūken technique to the game of baseball to create the Rōgafūfūtōyūken technique. This technique is highly effective for scoring as many points as possible during a match.
4. Shin Rōgafūfūken
After intense training, Yamcha was able to enhance the power of Rōgafūfūken to a higher level, becoming Shin Rōgafūfūken. He first used this technique during his battle against Tien at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai.
When using this technique, Yamcha enhanced his physical strength with ki control. He was also able to unleash attacks that were far more destructive than his usual attacks.
5. Kamehameha
Initially, Yamcha had no interest in becoming Master Roshi's apprentice. After the incident against the Red Ribbon Army, he volunteered to be taken on as a disciple because he wanted to become stronger.
Yamcha also underwent intense training alongside Krillin. One of the results of his training was his mastery of the Kame Sennin school's signature technique, the Kamehameha. However, this technique was not his ultimate move.
6. Sōkidan
Sōkidan is arguably Yamcha's most distinctive technique in the story. He first gathers energy in his palm until it transforms into an energy ball. He then controls the energy ball with his middle and index fingers.
Yamcha can control the direction of the Sōkidan attack based on the enemy's movements. Furthermore, he can attack multiple enemies simultaneously with this technique. Upon impact, the attack produces a powerful explosion.
7. Tokudai Sōkidan
As the name suggests, Tokudai Sōkidan is a larger and more destructive version of the regular Sōkidan. Furthermore, Yamcha requires focusing a large amount of ki to use this technique.
Yamcha first demonstrated this technique while training with Tien and his friends in the Pendulum Room. There, they experienced a simulated battle against a Saiyan who was much stronger than them.
8. Seiken Kidan Tsuki
The final technique Yamcha mastered was Seiken Kidan Tsuki. This technique consisted of a punch enhanced with ki, making it more powerful against the opponent.
Yamcha first demonstrated this technique during his fight against Recoome in Other World. The technique was proven to be able to send Recoome flying so far that he fell to the depths of hell.
