Ikkaku Madarame is an interesting Shinigami who has passion for fighting. He currently serves as a lieutenant of the 11th Division under the leadership of Kenpachi Zaraki.
In this article, we would like to discuss Ikkaku Madarame's power and abilities in Bleach. Curious? Check out the full review below!
Hakuda
Hakuda is one of the basic techniques mastered by Shinigami. This technique focuses on physical strength and barehanded combat.
Ikkaku is a Shinigami with high confidence in his physical strength. Before becoming a Shinigami, he always engaged in combat without using weapons, specifically his bare hands.
Even though Ikkaku doesn't wield a Zanpakutō, he can still use his fists to fight enemies. An example of this is when he faced a Fullbringer named Moe.
Shunpo
While Hakuda focuses on physical ability, Shunpo emphasizes speed. A skilled Shunpo user can move so fast that they appear to teleport.
While not as proficient as Byakuya or Yoruichi, Ikkaku is also capable of using Shunpo. However, he only uses it when fighting against opponents stronger than himself.
Hōzukimaru
Ikkaku wields a Zanpakutō called Hōzukimaru. When Ikkaku releases its Shikai form, Hōzukimaru transforms into a naginata spear with a wooden handle.
Ikkaku is highly skilled at wielding the spear. He can alternate between his right and left hands during combat. Furthermore, his fighting prowess is impressive, approaching captain-level.
Like most Zanpakutō, Hōzukimaru in its Shikai form has a special ability. It can transform into a Sansetsukon, a staff consisting of three segments connected by a chain.
Ikkaku can join or separate the staff at will. He can also deliver surprise attacks against opponents.
Bankai: Ryūmon Hōzukimaru
Normally, Bankai is only accessible to Shinigami with the rank of captain. However, there are some Shinigami at the lieutenant level who are capable of activating Bankai forms. Examples include Ikkaku and Renji Abarai.
Ikkaku first activated his Bankai during his battle against an Arrancar named Edrad. His Bankai consists of two main weapons: a Chinese Monk's shovel and a pair of large guandao.
Ikkaku's Bankai is also quite unique and has no special abilities. However, it releases a large amount of Reiatsu and can grow stronger as the battle progresses.
According to legend, this Bankai also has a lazy nature. Ikkaku needs time to unleash its full power in battle. He must wait until the dragon carving on the weapon turns a full crimson red.
The charging process is quicker if Ikkaku spins Ryūmon Hōzukimaru. Although this Bankai is quite cumbersome, it can produce deadly damage.
