21st World Martial Arts Tournament is the first and iconic tournament in Dragon Ball history. This tournament served as the perfect opportunity for young Goku to test his strength after training with Master Roshi.
In this article, we would like to discuss the strongest fighters participating in 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. Who are they? Check out the full review below!
8. Ranfan
Ranfan is a beautiful and charming fighter. She also enjoys teasing her opponents during battles in the arena. She combines her beauty with martial arts skills in combat.
When her opponent is caught off guard by her seduction, Ranfan will attack them with her strongest blow. She used this tactic in her fight against Nam. Unfortunately, it didn't work on him.
7. Bacterian
In contrast to Ranfan, Bacterian is a very smelly and disgusting man. He is especially known for his reputation for rarely bathing or brushing his teeth. Uniquely, he uses his dirty side as a tactic in battle.
Anyone who fights Bacterian will certainly lose focus. This gives Bacterian a great chance of winning the match. However, he is defeated by Krillin, who lacks a nose.
6. Yamcha
Yamcha was originally a desert bandit who liked to steal other people's belongings. However, he slowly begins to change his bad habits after he meets Goku and Bulma. He uses his martial arts skills for good.
Unlike Goku and Krillin, Yamcha trains independently. He is able to develop interesting moves inspired by wolves. Unfortunately, he has to face Jackie Chun, also known as Master Roshi, and is eliminated in the quarterfinals.
5. Nam
The next strongest fighter is a man named Nam, who comes from a desert region. He is obsessed with winning so he can buy water for the people in his drought-stricken village.
Nam has a very strong determination as a martial artist. He is able to put up an impressive fight with Goku. However, he is ultimately defeated by Goku, who is much stronger than him.

In combat, Giran tends to rely more on his brutal physical strength. He gave Goku a hard time in the arena. After being defeated by Goku, he began to respect him.
3. Krillin
Krillin was initially pessimistic after meeting his old friends at the temple. Despite being frequently insulted, he managed to prove that he had grown stronger after training with Master Roshi.
Throughout the tournament, Krillin fought with complete dedication. He defeated Bacterian in the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, his progress was cut short after he lost to Jackie Chun.
2. Son Goku
From the beginning, Son Goku possessed a natural talent as a martial artist. After training under Master Roshi, his fighting strength increased drastically. He also demonstrated his progress in the arena.
In 21st World Martial Arts Tournament , Goku made it to the finals and finished second. He couldn't defeat the incredibly powerful Jackie Chun. Although he lost, he learned something valuable and continued training to become stronger.
1. Jackie Chun
Unbeknownst to Goku and Krillin, Master Roshi disguised himself as Jackie Chun and became a finalist in 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. He deliberately entered the tournament because he couldn't let his student become a champion.
Master Roshi assumed that Goku would become arrogant and stop training if he won the tournament. He wanted to teach Goku something important: there are many fighters greater than him in the universe.
