1. Anpanman
As his name suggests, Anpanman is a superhero inspired by Japanese red bean cakes. He was born when a shooting star accidentally hit Jam-Ojisan's oven while he was baking anpan cakes.
Anpanman doesn't need to eat or drink every day because he believes the bean butter on his head keeps him nourished. However, he is weak to water and anything that could make his head dirty.
2. Jam-Ojisan
Jam-Ojisan is Anpanman's creator and loves baking cakes. He is very kind and caring towards others. He always helps restore Anpanman and his friends whenever they are weak.
3. Batako-san
Next, there's Jam-Ojisan's personal assistant, Batako-san. She's hardworking and dedicated. Unfortunately, she's forgetful. She's the one who made the coats for Anpanman and the other heroes.
4. Melonpanna
Melonpanna is Anpanman's best friend, created from melon cake. She has a soft and sensitive heart. Whenever she's in trouble, she usually asks Anpanman for help.
5. Currypanman
Like Melonpanna, Currypanman is also best friends with Anpanman. She was inspired by curry cake. She appears to be short-tempered and easily angered. However, she also shows a kind and sentimental side.
6. Rollpanna
Rollpanna is Melonpanna's older sister, who has two contrasting personalities. Whenever she sees Anpanman, she can become evil. However, she can also be kind when she sees Melonpanna.
7. Cheese
Anpanman has a cute pet dog named Cheese. He first met Cheese while he was on patrol. He saw Cheese was hungry, so he put a piece of cake on his head to feed him.
8. Shokupanman
Shokupanman is Anpanman's friend, inspired by a piece of white cake. He has a narcissistic nature due to his handsome appearance. When he's not helping Anpanman, he usually serves lunch to schoolchildren.
9. Creampanda
Creampanda is Anpanman's youngest friend and the adopted brother of Melonpanna and Rollpanna. As his name suggests, he looks like a mix of cream and a panda. Although he's not yet an adult, he's very protective of his friends.
10. Baikinman
Baikinman is Anpanman's archenemy, originating from a distant planet called Germ. He leads an army of Viruses and is obsessed with spreading bacteria throughout the world. He enjoys committing crimes. However, he is very weak against soap.
11. Dokin-chan
Dokin-chan is Baikinman's partner in action. She is selfish, demanding, childish, and greedy. However, she sometimes displays a kind heart. In the story, she falls in love with Shokupanman's handsomeness.
12. Horrorman
Finally, there is Baikinman's subordinate named Horrorman, who is no less unique. He has a frightening skull-like appearance. Funnily enough, he is not very strong and is easily defeated by Anpanman and his friends.
