Barragan was one of the most fearsome members of the Espada. He was once known as the King of Hueco Mundo, who ruled Las Noches. Although he appears to be the leader, he held the second position in the Espada group.

Descorrer
Descorrer is a special ability mastered by Arrancar of the Espada level. This technique allows the user to create a Garganta, a portal connecting Hueco Mundo and the human world.
Barragan uses this technique to travel to the human world and fight against Shinigami forces.
Sonído
Similar to Shunpo, Sonído is an Arrancar technique that excels in speed. This technique allows an Arrancar to move at such a speed that it resembles teleportation.
Barragan demonstrates impressive skill in using Sonído. As proof, he was able to teleport to Sui-Fēng's location in the blink of an eye without her realizing it. Sui-Fēng is a Shinigami who is considered extremely fast and agile.
Hierro
In addition to mastering the two previous techniques, Barragan also possesses a special technique called Hierro, which is useful for self-defense. This technique allows an Arrancar to harden their skin like steel, making it impervious to attack.
Barragan's Hierro abilities increase even more when he activates Resurrección. He was shown to be able to withstand Sui-Fēng's Jakuhō Raikōben attack head-on and minimize the damage he took.
Arrogante
Unlike other Arrancar, Barragan wields a Zanpakutō that takes the form of a large, dual-bladed axe. His Zanpakutō is known as Arrogante. During his battle with the Shinigami, he was seen hiding the axe behind his throne.
Barragan is also highly skilled in using the axe. He possesses immense raw power, making his axe attacks deadly. This was evident when he faced Sui-Fēng and Marechiyo Ōmaeda.
Resurrección
Barragan's true power is most evident when he activates his Resurrección form. He needs to give the command Rot to unleash the full power of his Zanpakutō in battle.
When Barragan activates this power, he releases red Reiatsu and produces flames that burn his entire body down to nothing but bones and skull. He also wears a purple cape and a crown, giving him a badass look.
Senescencia
After activating Resurrección, Barragan is able to use special powers and deadly attack techniques. One example is Senescencia, which allows him to accelerate the aging process of any object around him.
This ability makes Barragan immune to physical attacks and invulnerable to melee attacks. If someone is hit by this ability, parts of their body can rot, turning into bones like Barragan.
Furthermore, this ability allows Barragan to project a field that slows down time around him. Anything that passes through this field will automatically slow down.
Respira
Similar to the previous ability, Respira also has effects related to the aging or decay process. When using this technique, Barragan releases a purple smoke that is very fast and difficult to avoid.
Anything exposed to this smoke will undergo relentless decay. If it touches a person, the smoke will continue to destroy that body part until the affected part is amputated.
An example is the case of Sui-Fēng, whose hand turned into a skeleton. To minimize the damage she received, Sui-Fēng had to amputate her hand.
Gran Caída
Barragan still has one more axe, called Gran Caída. He can use it after activating Resurrección. It is the same axe he used when he was King of Hueco Mundo.
Barragan can swing it with just one hand. He can also use the axe to extend the range of Respira's attacks to the point where he was able to cut through Hachigen Ushōda's barrier.
