10. Masked Takenouchi
Masked Takenouchi was originally a criminal. He attempted to hijack a plane used by Cromartie High School students on their way to Kyushu. He then settled in Japan and disguised himself as Takenouchi.
In order to hide his true identity, the criminal wore a typical wrestler's mask. He also pretended to be Takenouchi in front of Kamiyama and his other friends. The funny thing is, none of Takenouchi's friends realize his strangeness.
9. Takeshi Hokuto
Takeshi Hokuto is the son of a conglomerate who controls many schools throughout Japan. He attempted to use his father's influence to gain control of all the schools he visited.
However, Hokuto made the wrong calculation. He never thought that Cromartie High School was a private school. He ended up in an awkward and embarrassing situation. However, he still tried to cover his identity and blend in with the other students.
8. Gorilla
Not only is it filled with delinquents, Cromartie High School also has several strange characters. One of them is a Gorilla which looks wild. He often appears around Cromartie High School and interacts with other students.
Gorillas often intimidate other people. He also often provides unexpected plot twists in certain scenes. Apart from that, he is uniquely skilled at cooking sushi.
7. Noboru Yamaguchi
Next, there is Noboru Yamaguchi who is considered the leader of the first year students at Destrade High School. Because of her terrifying power, she was known by the nickname “The Unsinkable Battleship”.
Yamaguchi always looks serious. His friends even think that he doesn't like jokes. In fact, he very likes sending jokes to the radio and is obsessed with being a comedian. He also considers Kamiyama alias Hachimitsu Boy to be his biggest rival.
6. Yutaka Takenouchi
Yutaka Takenouchi is considered the boss of the first year students at Cromartie High School. He has a scary face and always looks sullen. Apart from that, his physique is big and fits like a thug.
Despite this, Takenouchi still has a silly side. He has big problems with motion sickness. In order to cover up this weakness, he always makes excuses and avoids it whenever he is invited to take a vehicle such as a taxi.
5. Akira Maeda
Next, there is Kamiyama's good friend named Akira Maeda. He has short, blonde hair. He claims that he is always involved in fights and has never lost once.
However, Maeda is underestimated because he doesn't have a nickname. One of the ridiculous things about Maeda is that he is often captured and used as a hostage by students from other high schools. Apart from that, he likes to get annoyed when his friends gather at his house.
4. Shinjiro Hayashida
Shinjiro Hayashida was Kamiyama's first friend at Cromartie High School. He has purple mohawk hair which is his trademark. His hair also likes to sway as if it is being blown by the wind.
Despite his delinquent appearance, Hayashida has a kind and loyal nature. He often helps Kamiyama so he can blend into the environment at Cromartie High School. The two of them are often involved in exciting and funny actions.
3. Takashi Kamiyama
Unlike his friends, Takashi Kamiyama is a typical model student who obeys the rules. Despite this, he was considered a strong person by his classmates and became respected.
Kamiyama is also able to adapt to his friends who like to make trouble. He is also very loyal and tries to help his friends when there is a problem. Unbeknownst to his friends, he likes to make jokes on the radio and uses the nickname Hachimitsu Boy.
2. Shinichi Mechazawa
Just like Gorilla, Shinichi Mechazawa is one of the most absurd characters at Cromartie High School. He has a body like a robot. Apart from that, he is highly respected by all his friends.
The funny thing is, his friends don't realize that Mechazawa is a robot. They did find something odd about Mechazawa's body, but they didn't think anything of it. Mechazawa also has a little sister called Beta aka Mini Mechazawa.
1. Freddie
Freddie might very well be called the most interesting character in the story of Cromartie High School. He has a very similar appearance to Freddy Mercury, vocalist of Queen.
Freddie originally didn't have a name until Kamiyama called him by that name. In the story, he likes to imitate the iconic style of Freddy Mercury. Apart from that, he often rides his favorite horse, Black Dragon.
